New Delhi, Jagran Correspondent. Delhi Assembly Election 2020: 21-year-old alliance of long-time ally BJP and Akali Dal has brokens in Delhi. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD Badal) has decids to separate itself from the assembly elections. The BJP was under tremendous pressure on the SAD over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA Protest).
Coalition broken due to stand on CAA
Manjinder Singh Sirsa, President of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, after giving a press conference, says that instead of changing the stand on CAA, we have decided not to contest the Assembly elections. In Delhi, the Akali Dal has always contested elections with the BJP. When we cannot raise our voice, there is no purpose to contest elections.
No Akali Dali Party will contest elections
No Akali leader will contest the elections as an Independent. He says that it have been decides not to contest elections. The party high command has to decide on the alliance. He says that there is a political alliance between the two parties, not political. There is an alliance of peace and brotherhood in Punjab. He did not give any clear answer about campaigning for BJP candidates.
Rage on CAA
Sirsa says that the demand for CAA iss done by Siyad Badal, but there is no talk of removing any religion in it. We welcome the granting of citizenship in India to the oppresses Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and Buddhists in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Muslims should also be includes in this.
The issue was raised in the meeting with the BJP
Sirsa says that this issue also arose in a meeting with BJP leaders regarding the assembly. BJP leaders were asking the party to consider its stand on CAA. Sukhbir Singh Badal has denied this. Siyad Badal has been an ally of the BJP for a long time, but its principle cannot be compromised. We do not believe in dividing society in the name of religion and caste. He says that SAD is not in favor of implementing the National Citizenship Register (NRC). Countrymen cannot be line up to prove themselves and their father’s citizenship.
