Jeff Bezos, the chief executive officer (CEO) of world giant Amazon, was on a three-day tour of India in the past. During this time he met many prominent businessmen and film personalities of the country. He did not meet any minister of the Modi government. It was reportedly told that Bezos had sought an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi (PM Narendra Modi) but did not get an appointment from the PMO. BJP leader Vijay Chaturwale tweeted and taunted him on the pretext of ‘Washington Post’ owned by Bezos. After which ‘The Washington Post’ editor Eli Lopez responded to his tweet and wrote that Jeff Bezos does not tell him what to write.
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos had called for a meeting with PM Modi, but declined
Actually, Vijay Chaturwale had shared a video and tweeted, “Mr. Jeff Bezos will tell his employees in Washington DC, or else trying to woo you would be like wasting time and money.” Replying to him, Editor of the Washington Post, Eli Lopez wrote, “I want to make it clear to you that Jeff Bezos does not tell the Washington Post reporters what he has to write. Independent journalism is not meant to woo governments. The work of our journalists and writers is done according to the traditions of Indian democracy, which cannot be questioned.
Let us tell you that it was believed that during Jeff Bezos’ visit to India, he could meet PM Narendra Modi and Industry and Railways Minister Piyush Goyal during this time but it did not happen. It was said that Bezos had sought an appointment with PM Modi but he was not given an appointment. Bezos has also announced a billion dollar investment in India on his tour. Piyush Goyal said about this that Bezos is not doing any favor on the country by investing one billion dollars in India. It is believed that the ‘Competition Commission of India’ investigation against Amazon and the ‘Washington Post’ critical attitude towards the Modi government were the main reason for PM Modi and his ministers not meeting Bezos.
