History of Jaipur

Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, is also known as the “Pink City” due to the distinctive pink hue of its buildings. The city was founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, a visionary ruler who designed Jaipur with an innovative grid system, making it one of India’s first planned cities. The pink color was adopted during Prince Albert’s visit in 1876 to symbolize hospitality.

Jaipur has a rich cultural heritage, reflected in its magnificent palaces, forts, and temples. It was not only a political capital but also a center for arts, astronomy, and architecture. The city’s unique blend of Rajput and Mughal influences makes it a must-visit destination for history lovers.
